"Journeyman" Update

I said in a previous post that I found this show interesting but merely on the edge of keeping me viewing.  I have since decided that it's the best new show on TV.

The little tasks that the main character has to carry out each week remain engaging.  The ongoing romantic tension between the lead, and his wife, and his brother (who used to date his wife) and his ex-fiance (who they all thought was dead) is surprisingly rich.  I hadn't thought the setup would generate so many interesting personal moments.  Also, the way they're slowly, ever-so-slowly, giving us clues about the reason he's travelling through time in the first place is keeping me happy.

But the best part of the show is how the mere fact of his travel through time is causing him problems.  Using money that hasn't been printed yet.  Appearing from nowhere in the vicinity of a hold up.  And now the FBI is on his case.  A series of details from several episodes have combined into a "perfect storm" of suspicion.  I think that's just brilliant.

Somehow the show gets a little bit better with each episode.  I really hope NBC gives this thing a chance to grow.  It has the capability of being a classic.
